During an emergency application, air in the brake pipe rushes toward the freight car where the application occured. Indicator strips in the Detectors sense airflow through the brake hose , pointing to the direction of the application When installed in a train at equally spaced intervals, the detectors point to the car causing the undesired emergency application

The detector system consists of four airflow detection devices and a carrying case. Aluminum glad hands keep the detectors light and easy to handle.
